Current Challenge: Many prospective students have limited knowledge of the professional roles available to graduates of the Educational Technology program. There is a common misconception that the degree is limited to teaching roles within K–12 schools.
Reality vs. Ideal:
Reality: Students often lack awareness of the wide range of careers in educational technology, such as roles in instructional design, corporate training, and eLearning development. Many are also unaware of the potential income in these fields.
Ideal: Students should have a clear understanding of the job opportunities available with this degree, the diversity of sectors in which they can work, and the typical salary ranges they can expect.
Instructional Need: An orientation resource is needed to provide an overview of the program’s benefits, career options, and value. This will help prospective students make more informed decisions about their educational and professional paths.
Project Goals:
Introduce students to the roles and responsibilities of educational technologists.
Present realistic career options and salary expectations across various industries.
Help students make informed choices about whether the program aligns with their goals.
